You may have heard of jackfruit but what is it?
Why should you use it and what does it taste like?
Jackfruit is a species of tree in the fig and mulberry family.
The tree produces oblong fruits with a fleshy exterior. Inside this bumpy skin, a jackfruit contains many pale yellow bulbs which are edible.
It is used as a plant based meat alternative because this fruit soaks up flavours well and has a stringy ‘meat’ like texture.
